Loeb & Loeb LLP Welcomes Back Prominent Labor Attorney to Its Entertainment Department

LOS ANGELES - Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that esteemed entertainment labor lawyer Ivy Kagan Bierman has rejoined the Los Angeles office as a partner.  Ms. Bierman was formerly an associate at Loeb & Loeb from 1987 to 1993.

Ms. Bierman will practice in both the Litigation and Entertainment Departments. Her practice includes the representation of entertainment and related companies in labor, production, distribution, technology and other business matters. She handles both transactional and litigation matters for clients.

Ms. Bierman regularly counsels major entertainment companies with respect to SAG, AFTRA, DGA, WGA, Teamsters and IATSE agreements and handles claims arising out of such agreements. She advised several companies regarding the WGA, SAG and casting drectors negotiations and potential strikes. She also advised several national advertisers in connection with the SAG commercial strike. Ms. Bierman was also one of the first attorneys to negotiate interactive and multimedia agreements with SAG, the WGA and the DGA.

Ms. Bierman currently advises clients with respect to the guilds' and unions' evolving positions regarding reality television and the development and exhibition of content over the Internet and mobile devices. She also currently represents several entertainment companies in connection with a series of entertainment industry-wide class action lawsuits. Ms. Bierman regularly provides extensive sexual harassment and discrimination training tailored to entertainment industry companies with edgy programming content.

• Ms. Bierman provides ongoing production and labor legal advice to FremantleMedia North America, Inc., in connection with its television programming, including the hit reality television show "American Idol."
• She handles guild and union matters for the reality television show "So You Think You Can Dance" produced by Dance Nation Productions, Inc.
• Her television production company clients also include David E. Kelley Productions, the production company of award-winning writer/producer David E. Kelley and Once Upon a Time Films, the production company of prolific producer Stan Brooks.
• Ms. Bierman also advises Tatopoulos Studios, the creature design and fabrication company that created the creatures for numerous feature films, including "I, Robot" and "Underworld."  She is also currently handling several feature film directing agreements for Patrick Tatopoulos, the company's founder.
• She represents director/producer Lian Lunson, whose documentary film entitled "Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man" was recently exhibited at the Sundance Film Festival and is being distributed by Lions Gate Films.
• She consults with the Museum of Television and Radio in connection with guild issues.
• Ms. Bierman represented Panavision in Panavision v. Toeppen, a preeminent domain name case.

Ms. Bierman returns to Loeb & Loeb from Morrison & Foerster LLP, where she was a partner in the entertainment and labor groups. She serves on the Women In Film board of directors, the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation board and the advisory board for the Women of the World Awards and is a member of the Hollywood Radio and Television Society. She formerly served as the chair of the Entertainment and Labor Sections of the Century City Bar Association. Ms. Bierman earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from Duke University in 1980 and her J.D., cum laude, at Northwestern University School of Law in 1984.
