Elite Litigation and Trial Team Joins Loeb & Loeb LLP

Loeb & Loeb LLP is pleased to announce the arrival of an elite, nationally recognized litigation and trial team led by Mark P. Ressler, a noted trial lawyer, software litigator and former federal prosecutor, and by Paul M. “Tad” O’Connor III, a distinguished trial and appellate lawyer and real estate and private equity litigator. Ressler and O’Connor will be joined by partners Joshua E. Hollander, Melissa A. Barahona and Andrew H. Elkin, and all will be partners in Loeb’s New York office.

The team joins from litigation firm Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP, where Ressler headed the Software Litigation practice and O’Connor the Real Estate Litigation practice. The team’s success and trial wins have earned them praise in Chambers USA, The American Lawyer, National Law Journal, Benchmark Litigation, Legal 500, Lawdragon and other publications.

“Mark’s proven leadership in technology and complex commercial litigation and Tad’s leading real estate and private equity litigation practice significantly enhance the services we provide to clients facing high-stakes disputes and trials in these core areas of the firm,” said Loeb Co-Chair, Mitch Nussbaum. “Their addition underscores our commitment to delivering top-tier legal solutions and maintaining our position at the forefront of industries critical to our clients’ success.”

Ressler will chair Loeb’s Software Litigation practice. A former Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of New York, he has decades of experience representing clients in complex, high-profile commercial litigation matters. He is recognized as the go-to attorney for companies, states and municipalities confronting the business disruption and losses stemming from failed implementations of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) business software, and has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for clients pursuing claims against software implementers and developers. He also specializes in logistics, supply chain, warehouse and transportation disputes. For his ground-breaking work in the technology sector, Ressler has been named a “Litigation Trailblazer” and a “Plaintiffs’ Lawyers Trailblazer” by National Law Journal, and an “Innovative Lawyer” by Financial Times.

O’Connor handles disputes arising from real estate and hospitality transactions, including some relating to the most iconic buildings in the New York City skyline. He appears regularly before federal and state courts across the U.S., as well as arbitration tribunals in the U.S. and Europe. O’Connor’s clients include private equity firms, financial institutions, real estate developers and owners, hotel operators, major corporations and high net worth individuals. O’Connor has been recognized as a Chambers USA “Band 1” practitioner for Real Estate Litigation and a “Real Estate Trailblazer” by National Law Journal. Under his leadership at Kasowitz, the Real Estate department was named Law360 “Practice Group of the Year” and a Chambers USA “Band 1” group.

Hollander, Barahona and Elkin each have over a decade of litigation experience, and have been recognized as “Next Generation,” “Ones to Watch,” “Rising Stars” and top “40 & Under” litigators by various publications. Hollander focuses on technology, real estate and commercial litigation; Barahona on employment, supply chain logistics and commercial litigation; and Elkin on bankruptcy, real estate and commercial litigation.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Ressler said, “Loeb’s market-leading practices present an extraordinary platform for broadening our practice and winning cases for clients across a wide range of industries. We are excited at the synergies between our core litigation strengths and the firm’s capabilities, and honored to be working with such talented and collegial colleagues.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Mark, Tad, Josh, Melissa and Andrew to the firm,” said Laurie Ruckel, managing partner of Loeb’s New York office. “We look forward to collaborating with them to strengthen our capabilities and continue delivering exceptional service to our clients.”
