Loeb & Loeb Promotes 11 Lawyers to Partnership

The new partners are Terri Baron, Peter Beardsley, Dominick DiSabatino, Kathleen Gersh, Mike Grossman, Safia Hussain, Elisabeth Morgan, Ashley Sawyer, Bethany Simmons, Megan Stombock and Lili Taheri.

Terri Baron — Trusts & Estates, Chicago 
Terri Baron serves as a trusted adviser to individuals, multigenerational families, family offices and corporate fiduciaries on estate and wealth planning matters. Her experience encompasses gift, estate and generation-skipping transfer tax issues, trust administration, charitable giving, and closely held business succession issues. Terri counsels clients on fiduciary best practices and risk management, navigates complex issues of trust situs and taxation, and creates customized wealth transfer strategies. Terri received her J.D. from University of California at Los Angeles School of Law and her B.A. from Northwestern University.

Peter Beardsley — Finance, New York
Peter Beardsley maintains a diverse lending practice focusing on cash flow credit facilities, fund finance, private bank lending to high net worth individuals, asset-based loans and lender finance. He has significant experience representing financial institutions and borrowers in all types of secured and unsecured credit facilities. Peter’s practice extends to the representation of buyers and sellers of loan portfolios, distressed assets and distressed debt, in addition to commercial loan workout negotiations, restructuring of distressed credit facilities and representing DIP lenders. Peter received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and his B.A. from Amherst College.

Dominick DiSabatino — Life Sciences, Washington, DC
Dominick DiSabatino counsels pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and cosmetics companies on the legal and regulatory implications of business decisions spanning the entire product life cycle, from research and development to product launch and commercialization. His experience covers both pervasive and unique regulatory and compliance concerns, focusing on issues arising under federal and state health care regulations, as well as advertising and promotion laws. He is also committed to pro bono service, counseling nonprofit organizations focused on health care integration and optimization, as well as supporting post-incarceration reentry programs. Dominick received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School and his B.S. in biomedical engineering from Bucknell University.

Kathleen Gersh — Patent Litigation & Counseling, New York 
Kathleen Gersh’s practice focuses on patent litigation and counseling in the pharmaceuticals space, with emphasis on Hatch-Waxman litigation. She has significant experience managing complex litigations, including all phases of ANDA litigation, with patents covering compounds, formulations, dosing regimens and methods of treatment. She is a registered patent attorney and also has extensive transactional experience, including technology transfer and licensing arrangements, outsourcing transactions and joint ventures, and research and development collaborations. In addition to her client work, Kathleen serves as co-chair of Loeb & Loeb’s New York Women’s LEAD Network. Kathleen received her J.D. and Master of Intellectual Property from University of New Hampshire School of Law (formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center) and her B.S. from The University of Texas at Austin.

Mike Grossman — Corporate, Los Angeles
Mike Grossman is an experienced dealmaker and trusted adviser to clients in the entertainment, sports/eSports, media, fashion, tech and consumer products industries. Mike focuses his practice at the intersection of corporate, commercial, entertainment, tax and intellectual property law, advising clients on complex transactions including mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, branding and endorsements, media and content distribution, and athlete and talent deals. Mike takes a business-oriented approach to deal-making to help get his clients the results they desire as quickly and efficiently as possible, while also ensuring that they are protected in the transactions and deals they close. Mike received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was managing editor of the Columbia Law Review, and his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.

Safia Hussain — Litigation, Los Angeles
As a commercial litigator, Safia Hussain focuses her practice on entertainment, copyright, trademark and other intellectual property disputes. She has handled entertainment and contract-based claims involving motion picture distribution and sales agreements, claims involving alleged infringement of creative elements including screenplays and concept art, claims stemming from the unauthorized use of celebrity likenesses and protected IP to promote product sales, defamation claims arising from press releases and conferences, and the recovery of awards statuettes. She also has experience in a diverse range of business and media disputes, including breach of contract, false advertising, fraud, unfair competition, regulatory violations, class action defense and other complex litigation matters. Safia received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and her B.A. and B.F.A. from the University of Oklahoma.

Elisabeth (Bess) Morgan — Advanced Media & Technology, Nashville
Bess Morgan’s practice focuses on helping clients acquire, protect, enforce and exploit their intellectual property and other proprietary rights. Bess has extensive experience managing and maintaining large domestic and international trademark portfolios and counsels clients on brand selection, clearance, and U.S. and global filing strategies. She has a particular focus on representing both brands and individual talent in connection with sponsorship and influencer agreements, as well as licensing and cobranding deals. Bess also represents and counsels clients on a broad range of intellectual property issues that converge with advertising, entertainment and corporate matters. Bess serves as co-chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Tennessee Women’s LEAD Network. Bess received her J.D. from Loyola Law School and her B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.

Ashley Sawyer — Trusts & Estates, Washington, DC
Ashley Sawyer focuses her practice on tax-efficient planning for wealthy individuals, families and business executives. She advises on legacy succession to younger generations; estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax matters and compliance; philanthropy; and life insurance planning techniques. Ashley also counsels exempt organizations, including charitable trusts, private foundations and public charities, on matters involving tax-exempt status and navigating governance issues. Ashley received her J.D. from Catholic University of America and her B.A. from Guilford College.

Bethany Simmons — Restructuring & Bankruptcy, New York
Bethany Simmons focuses her practice on bankruptcy, reorganization and commercial litigation and advises a wide range of clients, including those in the health care, oil and gas, real estate, and entertainment industries. She guides debtors through all facets and stages of Chapter 11 and also counsels secured lenders in out-of-court restructurings and Chapter 11 proceedings. In addition, Bethany also regularly represents clients in commercial litigation in both federal and state courts on a variety of matters, including in cases involving complex business disputes, breach of contract, business torts and fraudulent conveyances. Bethany received her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Megan Stombock — Capital Markets and Corporate, New York
Megan Stombock is a corporate lawyer concentrating her practice on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity, venture capital and other private fund investments, and other general corporate matters. She works with clients in a range of industries, with particular experience in media, entertainment and technology transactions.  Megan received her LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center, her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law and her B.A. from Villanova University.

Lili Taheri — Capital Markets and Corporate, New York
Lili Taheri focuses her practice primarily on representing public companies with respect to securities and corporate law matters. She advises issuers and underwriters in connection with private and public offerings of securities and PIPE transactions. In addition, she assists clients with registration statements, reporting obligations under the Securities Exchange Act, corporate governance issues, and compliance with the requirements of various securities exchanges, including the NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX. Lili received her J.D. from New York Law School and her LL.B. from Renmin University of China Law School.
