Loeb & Loeb LLP, led by Ken Benbassat, Co-Chair of the firm's Corporate Section, represented California-based homebuilder KB Home in the highly publicized formation of KB Home/Shaw Louisiana LLC, a joint venture and the first to focus on building homes for those displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Former California Governor Gray Davis, who is now Of Counsel to Loeb & Loeb, and firm Co-Chairman John Frankenheimer facilitated the introductions of KB Home and The Shaw Group, which led to the joint venture.
The Shaw Group Inc. is one of the largest Louisiana companies and will be facilitating infrastructure issues for the partnership. The Shaw Group was the recipient of the first major FEMA contract awarded for rebuilding in the region. With KB Home's extensive experience in quality homebuilding and The Shaw Group's engineering expertise, the joint venture also envisions increasing economic development in Louisiana's Gulf Coast area by attracting a broad demographic range of new home owners.
