Caitlin L. Dempsey

Caitlin L. Dempsey is senior counsel in the firm’s Art and Cultural Property practice. Caitlin brings more than a decade of experience advising high net worth individuals, art collectors, dealers and artists on various art-related matters. She is known for building trust and rapport with clients early on, fostering collaborative and effective relationships. She offers a thoughtful and strategic approach that is tailored to the unique goals and values of each client. 

Caitlin combines her legal knowledge with a nuanced understanding of the art market to navigate clients through the lifecycle of an art collection. She regularly advises on private sales, loans, irrevocable bids, gifts and consignments of fine art and antiquities. Caitlin also has significant experience in secured lending against art collections and in structuring fractional ownership arrangements. She negotiates settlements of title and authenticity disputes and counsels clients on intellectual property matters, including trademark and copyright infringements. She has experience managing transactions with other collectibles—including vintage cars.

In addition to her art law practice, Caitlin has extensive experience advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and a broad range of commercial transactions across a variety of industries.
