Eric Cook CIPP/US

Eric Cook's legal practice centers around providing ethical guidance at the intersection of health, technology and advertising. His expertise concerns assisting businesses in navigating complex regulations such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the FTC's Health Breach Notification Rule (HBNR), state-specific consumer health privacy laws like Washington's My Health My Data Act, and comprehensive state privacy laws. His assistance includes drafting and negotiating business associate agreements and data protection agreements. His extensive understanding of these areas allows him to provide strategic guidance that aligns with his client's business objectives. 

Eric also counsels businesses on unique legal issues surrounding tracking technologies, deidentification and artificial intelligence (AI). He provides guidance on the CAN-SPAM Act, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). 

Eric assists businesses in many industries in navigating various data privacy and security matters, including health and wellness, life sciences, financial services, beverage and advertising, concerning risks at the intersection of state and federal privacy and security obligations, including ethics and AI.

Before joining Loeb & Loeb, Eric was an Assistant General Counsel at a large health care system, where he drafted various supply chain and IT agreements, focusing on negotiating business associate terms. 

Outside of work, Eric is an avid martial artist and fitness enthusiast.
