Loeb & Loeb Nashville Celebrates 30 Years of Growth in the Music City

Tiffany Dunn, co-office administrative partner of the firm’s Nashville office, reflects on the office's foundation, its key milestones over the past three decades, and the firm’s growth alongside Nashville’s historic entertainment and music scene. She also shares her vision for the future, highlighting the firm’s dedication to expanding its capabilities to meet clients' evolving needs.

What can you share about the early days of Loeb & Loeb’s Nashville office?

I’ve heard a great deal about the office’s early days from key figures like John Frankenheimer, Ken Kraus and Bob Sullivan, who were instrumental in establishing the firm’s presence in Nashville. The firm quickly became one of the most influential full-service entertainment practices in the city, shaping the legal landscape for the entertainment industry here. Their early efforts laid a strong foundation for the office’s continued growth and success in the Nashville market.

As you have been with the Nashville office for more than two decades, what are the most significant milestones or achievements you’ve witnessed, and how have these shaped the firm’s growth in the market?

Our firm has been the legal representative for contestants in publicly televised music auditions and for talent for many years. We’ve had the honor of representing major celebrities, some at the beginning of their careers, and watching them grow into household names—such as Carrie Underwood, whom we’ve represented since her win on American Idol.

Bob Sullivan established a highly successful litigation practice at Loeb early on. This has continued with the addition of Tim Warnock, who joined our office in recent years to further that legacy and strengthen the practice.

One major milestone for the firm was moving from our quaint office in Hillsboro Village to a larger space in the Country Music Association and Society of European Stage Authors and Composers—CMA/SESAC—building on Music Row. This move allowed us to expand our headcount and diversify our legal services. Loeb is now one of the only full-service law firms on Music Row.

As the music industry evolved into a branding business extending beyond music, we expanded our Nashville office by adding lawyers to our Advanced Media and Technology department. With Nashville also being known for its technology and health care sectors, we’ve expanded into providing legal counsel in segments of these sectors, further establishing our presence in the broader business landscape.

The legal landscape has undoubtedly changed since the Nashville office was established. How has the firm adapted to these changes over the years, and what has been the key to building its success?

The move to the CMA/SESAC building enabled us to significantly grow our team, including adding lawyers with experience outside music law. This diversification has been a key factor in the firm’s success, allowing us to serve clients in sectors such as health care, technology and more-comprehensive estate planning.

Our strategy has been to continuously identify opportunities to expand our focus areas, not just in Nashville but across the firm. As Nashville has grown into a hub for technology and health care businesses, we’ve adapted by integrating attorneys with specialized knowledge in these sectors, ensuring we stay competitive and relevant in an evolving legal market.

How would you describe the culture in the Nashville office and its connection to the local community?

Nashville’s music industry is like a close-knit family, and having lawyers deeply embedded in this community has allowed Loeb to become an integral part of it. Our lawyers are not just legal advisors but active participants in the local music scene. This strong involvement in the community has created a unique culture in the office, where relationships matter just as much as the work we do. We also partner with various local organizations, further solidifying our connection to Nashville beyond the legal profession.

As the Nashville office celebrates 30 years, what do you envision for its future?

We continue to look for opportunities to grow, including adding attorneys with specialized knowledge in health care and more robust estate planning services. As we move forward, we will remain focused on broadening our capabilities to meet the needs of our clients while maintaining our position as one of the few full-service law firms on Music Row.
