Loeb & Loeb is pleased to announce the arrival of Christopher Ott as a partner in its Washington D.C. office, where he will join the firm’s Litigation department and play a key role in the firm’s Data Governance litigation and investigations practice. A seasoned litigator and former federal prosecutor, Ott helps clients resolve disputes around complex technologies, with a particular focus on issues involving cybersecurity and blockchain.
“Loeb already has a large and interdisciplinary team of attorneys focused on helping clients navigate the opportunities presented by the use of technology and data in the business world,” said Chris Carbone, Co-Chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Litigation department. “With Chris, we are able to substantially expand the end-to-end services we provide to these clients, with a particular focus on Washington, DC and California, and help them resolve a wide range of disputes in this space.”
Ott is a trial attorney, investigator, and Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) with more than 30 federal jury trial wins. He has handled matters ranging from internal investigations related to data leakage and privacy events; data breach response for various industries; white collar defense of clients related to cryptocurrency matters; and privacy and data security incidents involving ad technology.
“Loeb & Loeb is a renowned leader in all things privacy, technology and data-related,” Ott said. “The team provides pragmatic, business-oriented solutions to the most complex issues. I am ecstatic to join such a talented group, to work with their diverse clients - including in the entertainment, ad technology, financial services, and technology industries.”
Before entering private practice, Ott spent more than 10 years at the Department of Justice in various supervisory roles, including as an Eastern District of New York (EDNY) Senior Trial Counsel focusing upon securities fraud and cybercrime, as a Supervisory Counterintelligence and Cyber Counsel in the National Security Division, and as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of California (SDCa).
“Chris is well-known and well-respected inside the Beltway and throughout the country, particularly after working for more than a decade as a federal prosecutor. We are excited to welcome Chris to the firm as we continue to expand our D.C. office,” said Rich Lorenzo, Office Administrative Partner, Washington D.C.
Ott joins Loeb & Loeb from Rothwell Figg. He earned a A.B. from Dartmouth College and his J.D. from Emory University.
