One of the most powerful ways we express our “we’re all connected” philosophy is through meaningful service in the communities where we live and work. Below are highlights of some of our recent pro bono and diversity activities.
Loeb & Loeb Launches Small Business Legal Clinic with firm client Unilever and nonprofit Start Small Think Big
On June 8, Loeb launched a small business clinic with Start Small Think Big, partnering with in-house volunteers from our client, Unilever. Start Small Think Big is a nonprofit that provides support and services for low-income and under-resourced entrepreneurs, most of whom are of color, women, and members of other disadvantaged groups. Ten teams of Loeb and Unilever lawyers and paralegals assisted small businesses with a variety of issues, from contract drafting to privacy concerns.
Loeb & Loeb Joins the Legal Alliance for Reproductive Rights
On June 27, following the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Loeb joined the newly formed Legal Alliance for Reproductive Rights (LARR). LARR’s mission is to provide support for those in need of pro bono legal services, including those facing civil or criminal charges as result of reproductive health care restrictions. As a firm, we are committed to equal rights for all and we are proud to join an alliance committed to connecting those in need with pro bono legal services.
Loeb & Loeb Hosts Pro Bono Legal Clinic with Paramount Global and the Veterans Assistance Project
On July 13 and 14, Loeb began a two-day kickoff for a pro bono collaboration with the Veterans Assistance Project alongside clients from Paramount Global. The Veterans Assistance Project provides legal advice, advocacy and representation to veterans who are experiencing poverty and facing other systemic barriers related to their claims for benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Four teams of Loeb and Paramount Global volunteers began their representation of veterans in July, and will work together to navigate the disability claims and appeals.
Loeb & Loeb joins Court Watch program with OneJustice
In July, Loeb joined OneJustice’s Court Watch Project for rental debt cases in Small Claims Court. The Court Watch Project collects crucial data on how Small Claims Courts are implementing new guidelines and provides for COVID-19 rental debt cases. Volunteers work on a flexible schedule to view court proceedings in-person or virtually, and the information collected helps tenants, who often appear without representation, be better prepared at hearings.
