Loeb & Loeb Pledges Commitment to LCLD’s Leaders at the Front Initiative
Loeb & Loeb has pledged its commitment to the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s (LCLD) Leaders at the Front initiative. Leaders at the Front is designed to dismantle systemic barriers preventing underrepresented lawyers from achieving the highest levels of leadership within law firms and corporate legal departments.
Through the Leaders at the Front initiative, LCLD is asking its more than 400 members, who include corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners, to make personal commitments to diversity, equity and inclusion and implement organizational changes that are specific, meaningful and measurable. These leaders’ pledges are available on LCLD’s Leaders at the Front website. LCLD also provides resources to help its members create impactful pledges and a platform for leaders to share plans and best practices so that a collective voice across the industry will create transformational change. Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund’s Name Change Project
On April 19, Loeb & Loeb hosted a training with the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund for its Name Change Project, which helps transgender, gender nonconforming and nonbinary people secure a legal name change—an important step toward making their legal identity match their lived experience. A lack of appropriate identity documents can lead to discrimination and limit access to housing, jobs, health care, public benefits and education.
Twenty-seven Loeb lawyers volunteered for the project, and teams of lawyers across offices and departments will be assisting these individuals as they navigate the system, ensuring that they successfully complete the process and can move forward with their lives. Click here to learn more.
HIAS—Refugee Law Trainings
Loeb & Loeb and Morgan Stanley are proud to cosponsor a two-part webinar with the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) on refugee law, with a particular emphasis on the refugee crisis in Ukraine. Part I focused on the experience of a refugee in the immigration system, and Part II, on June 14, will explore the “adjustment of status” process in depth. In the fall, Loeb and Morgan Stanley will participate in a clinic with HIAS to help 13 Ukrainian refugees with their adjustment of status applications. Click here to learn more.

Over the past several months, we have been witnessing an unprecedented refugee crisis. From Afghanistan, to Ukraine, to Myanmar and Syria, millions of people have been displaced from their homes. The term "refugee" often gets used interchangeably with "forcibly displaced," but what does it actually mean to be a refugee? How does international law impact our understanding of who is a refugee, how are refugees processed, and what does a refugee experience prior to their entry into the U.S.? Refugee Law 102: Adjustments of Status for Refugees and Other Forcibly Displaced Persons
Refugees, asylees and other recipients of humanitarian relief may apply to become lawful permanent residents (LPRs), or “green card holders,” in the U.S. through a process called “adjustment of status.” HIAS pro bono lawyers work with clients who are eligible and ready to become LPRs. Please join us on Tuesday, June 14, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. ET for a legal webinar training to learn more about when and how individuals with humanitarian protections in the U.S. apply to adjust their status. We will also discuss opportunities to get involved in these types of cases.
