Caroline Hudson focuses her practice on the intersection of advertising and privacy matters, including the latest developments in new privacy laws, advertising technologies, artificial intelligence, digital products, and content. Caroline also leverages her knowledge of key legal considerations relevant to consumer products, including food, beverages, and dietary supplements, to provide guidance on labeling, claim substantiation questions, and other regulatory issues.

Caroline regularly advises brands, advertising agencies, and media and technology companies on advertising clearance, claim substantiation, and promotions, as well as issues involving social media and user-generated content. She has extensive experience negotiating media technology, talent, sponsorship, and licensing agreements. Drawing on her experience with food, beverages, and dietary supplements, Caroline routinely advises clients in these and other consumer products’ industries on labeling regulations, claim substantiation, disclosures, and web/social media engagement. Caroline’s review of advertising and labeling materials includes guidance and consultation on regulatory requirements and false advertising class actions brought under various state consumer protection laws.

In addition, Caroline has extensive experience working with clients on managing their complex compliance obligations with respect to privacy and data security. She routinely advises on new US state privacy laws, like the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), international requirements, and enforcement and litigation trends. As part of her privacy practice, Caroline provides practical advice and solutions to help clients navigate developing policies, internal processes, and governance structures. Her expertise includes advising clients on a wide variety of security, use, and sharing practices with respect to consumer data and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), VR, and AR. Caroline further assists clients with privacy due diligence matters for corporate mergers and acquisitions.
