Overview
John Um’s practice spans the full range of commercial contracting, including technology and outsourcing contracts, with a particular focus on complex SaaS transactions, such as SAP and Workday. He also advises clients on, and helps negotiate, commercial agreements, data licensing and other general procurement matters. He counsels businesses on evolving legal and practical considerations for artificial intelligence, including the use of generative AI tools, AI governance, licensing data for use in AI and AI-driven services.
In addition to technology and outsourcing, John also provides counsel on privacy and security matters, including collection and use of consumer data, targeted advertising, data analytics, data privacy agreements, and regulatory investigations and inquiries.
John’s practice is across a broad range of industries, including financial services, retail, healthcare, automotive manufacturing, telecommunications and entertainment.
