Overview

William Hawkins has decades of experience counseling companies, creditors, lessors, equity holders and other constituencies in credit restructurings, corporate reorganizations and bankruptcies. His practice also encompasses significant commercial litigation matters, in federal and state courts, as well as in out-of-court, negotiated solutions and alternative dispute resolution. William regularly counsels clients to optimize business and inter-affiliate structures and practices towards minimizing potential litigation liability across affiliate groups. He advises on best practices to reduce exposure to hostile asset consolidation, transfer avoidance, and corporate veil-piercing litigation as well as other cross-company and cross-border liability risks.

William is admitted to the courts of New York State and the District of Columbia, and the U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of New York. He has handled matters throughout the United States, including in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the District of Arizona, the Central District of California, the District of Delaware, the Southern District of Florida, and the District of New Jersey.

William frequently works with international clients in his areas of practice.
