Anne Kennedy McGuire, chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Podcast industry practice, served as a panelist during the “What’s the Deal? How Dealmaking is Changing in the Streaming Era” discussion at the 2024 Realscreen Summit in New Orleans on February 1, 2024, which was recapped in an article published by Realscreen. The panel focused on industry challenges during and after the 2023 Hollywood strikes, streaming's pros and cons, and navigating deal points.
During the panel, Anne took the perspective of someone bringing a new concept to a streamer or network.
“Especially because the budgets are getting lower,” she notes. “‘So you’re not giving me any more money and then you’re not locking me in? You can take this away from me next year, after I probably went out of pocket to make the show?’ We’ve been battling that more than ever, unfortunately.”
