Loeb & Loeb is proud to announce that Variety has named Scott Edel, chair of the firm's Entertainment department; Ivy Kagan Bierman, chair of the Entertainment Labor practice; Marc Chamlin, chair of the Television practice; and Entertainment Labor senior counsel Dimitry Krol to the 2023 edition of its Dealmakers Impact Report, which recognizes Hollywood’s leading lawyers, financiers, executives and entrepreneurs.
Variety also recognized Entertainment associate David Manella in the report's "Up Next" list, which features emerging dealmakers who have made an impact in the entertainment sector over the past year.
Ivy and Dimitry are spotlighted as a collaborative pair assisting their clients—including talent, their representatives, and film and TV companies—navigate the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes and picketing. In particular, the publication notes that Ivy and Dimitry worked closely with their clients to obtain SAG-AFTRA interim agreements that enabled many of their clients to produce independent films during the strikes.
Marc is lauded for counseling Oprah Winfrey in a range of new endeavors in 2023, including the Oprah Daily website and documentaries like "Sidney," among other matters. Meanwhile, Scott is featured for recently working with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon on their new company, Artists Equity, and counseling Alcon Entertainment on its upcoming “Garfield” film and limited TV series “Blade Runner 2099.”
In addition, David is noted for handling a range of entertainment deals, including representing Artists Equity in the development, financing and production of its upcoming films. He is also featured for negotiating a producing deal for Seaview for the film “Reality” on HBO, handling stage projects for Broadway-bound and off-Broadway shows, and representing banks in entertainment financings.
