The Copyright Alliance today announced establishment of a Legal Advisory Board to foster closer collaboration with firms representing the Alliance’s institutional members and other copyright owners. Loeb & Loeb LLP was the first firm to join the Board, which launched today with 14 founding members.
The Board will work with the Alliance and its membership to advance copyright strategy, and develop a variety of projects and programs, including providing assistance to individual artists and creators; hosting educational events and webinars; expanding work with law schools and young lawyers, and contributing writing and research.
“This Board will be invaluable to the Copyright Alliance and its members,” said Sandra Aistars, Copyright Alliance Executive Director. “The Alliance has actively developed grassroots, public and educational programs. Closer engagement with colleagues and thought leaders in the legal community will bring an important new perspective and talent pool to the Alliance, and allow us to serve the needs of the creative community better. I am particularly pleased that these firms are helping launch this initiative. They have been a trusted source of legal guidance for many in the copyright world for years and we value their expertise.”
“Intellectual property and copyright law in particular within the entertainment industry is among our firm’s core practice areas and strengths,” said Barry Slotnick, a Partner and Chair of Loeb & Loeb’s IP and Entertainment Litigation Practice Group. “We are looking forward to interacting directly with The Copyright Alliance to develop and share information and analysis of the critical legal issues facing copyright owners today. We are also especially excited about the opportunity to develop educational programs for the policymaking community and for future attorneys. We were eager to be the first member because of our longstanding relationship with and advocacy for members of the copyright community.”
