Overview
Kenley Stark is an associate in the firm’s Art and Cultural Property practice. With over eight years of experience in private client, tax and art law, Kenley brings a personable and practical approach to counselling clients on a broad spectrum of domestic and international art law matters.
Kenley has extensive experience working with high net worth individuals and families throughout the lifecycle of their art collections, advising on a wide range of contracts, including relating to art purchases, exhibition loans, leases, auction and gallery consignments, sales and gifts. She provides guidance to collectors on the maintenance of their art collections, including with respect to storage, transit, insurance, conservation and tax compliance. She has experience working with artists and artists’ estates on gallery representation, intellectual property and charitable legacy matters. She also has experience counseling investors, galleries, art advisors and dealers on their business ventures with art, providing guidance on their operating documents, transactions and tax compliance.
Kenley has broad experience across fine art and collectible property categories—ranging from antiquities and old masters to contemporary art collections and collectibles such as musical instruments, dinosaurs, rare books and coins. Sensitive to the emotional weight that often attaches to collections of fine art and collectibles, Kenley brings a balanced and nuanced approach to her clients’ needs. She often works in collaboration with family offices, art advisors and estate planning lawyers, offering guidance specific to fine art and other collectibles to help ensure that high net worth individuals and their families receive holistic and comprehensive advice with regard to their art transactions, maintenance and tax planning.
