Loeb & Loeb is proud to share that Litigation senior counsel Emily Stone received the 2025 Excellence in Pro Bono and Public Interest Service Award from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Chicago Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
This yearly recognition spotlights lawyers who have shown a strong commitment to pro bono and public interest work, particularly with criminal and civil matters. Emily will be presented with the award during the Northern District of Illinois' awards ceremony in the James Benton Parsons Ceremonial Courtroom of the Everett McKinley Dirksen United States Courthouse in Chicago on May 1, 2025.
Emily was selected for the award based on her contributions to the court-wide Settlement Assistance Program, which pairs self-represented litigants with volunteer lawyers to help resolve their cases. The case that led to Emily’s recognition involved a contested life insurance claim, where she helped her clients recover benefits they had long been designated to receive after uncovering a fraudulent change to the beneficiaries.
The matter was led by Emily with support from James Hitzeman, co-chair of the firm's Trust & Estate Litigation practice, and Private Client associate Erica Stern.
