Loeb & Loeb Private Client partner Meghan Biss is quoted in Checkpoint, discussing the impact of recent IRS layoffs on long-term employees and the resulting loss of institutional knowledge while speaking at the TEGE Annual Exempt Organizations Update and Meeting on Feb. 21, 2025.
During the meeting, Meghan noted that layoffs at federal agencies affect so-called probationary employees, a category that extends beyond those who are entirely new to government. A probationary employee "could mean somebody who worked at one agency and is now transferred to another agency," she said. "It could mean somebody who worked in [the] Small Business, Self Employed [division] at the IRS for 15 years and has changed to a new position [in another IRS division]."
