Loeb & Loeb represented Los Angeles County in connection with its $200 million acquisition of the Gas Company Tower, the 1.3 million-square-foot, 52-story iconic trophy office tower, located at 555 W. Fifth Street, in the Bunker Hill submarket of downtown Los Angeles. Most recently renovated in 2018, the LEED Gold-certified tower features 27,000-square-foot floorplates, a modern open lobby and a five-level underground parking garage.
The strategic acquisition of the Gas Company Tower is viewed as a noteworthy purchase by the County of a top asset at DTLA pricing not seen in nearly 20 years. The transaction closed on December 5, 2024.
Loeb’s Los Angeles real estate team provided the County with strategic advice on all aspects of the acquisition.
The Loeb team included Paul Rohrer, deputy chair of the firm’s Real Estate department, partner Sophia Mei-ling Chang, associates Shauna Bendinelli and Chelsea Maehara and paralegal Jim Jamila.
