Loeb & Loeb Boosts Entertainment Practice with John Kulback In Los Angeles

Loeb & Loeb is pleased to announce the arrival of John Kulback to the firm’s Los Angeles office as a partner in the Entertainment department.

Kulback is an industry-leading dealmaker and trusted advisor who focuses on providing legal, business and strategic counsel to feature film financiers, television and documentary production companies and digital content creators. Additionally, he represents venture capital-backed media technology companies as they scale from early stage into complex and high-stakes corporate and commercial partnerships.  

“John’s entrepreneurial approach and diverse background in the entertainment industry make him a great fit for our team,” said Scott Edel, chair of the firm’s Entertainment department. “His extensive knowledge across multiple platforms is an asset for clients in the increasingly complex landscape of entertainment, media and technology.”

A seasoned business operator and executive, Kulback has held a number of high-profile positions prior to joining the firm. Most recently, he served as Head of Business Operations and Business Affairs at Autograph, the blockchain start-up founded by Tom Brady and backed by a16z, Kleiner Perkins, Haun Ventures and Lightspeed. Kulback was also previously the Head of Business Affairs at VICE Media, where he oversaw business strategy and dealmaking for VICE Studios pursuant to TPG’s $450 million private equity investment into VICE Media. Earlier in his career, John was an entertainment lawyer at Twentieth Century Fox, where he was the lead lawyer on the Avatar sequels and Fox’s first distribution partnership with Google.

Kulback earned his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, as well as a B.M. in viola performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a B.A. in economics from Case Western Reserve University. He is also an adjunct professor at Northwestern and on the board of directors of The Orchestra of the Americas Group.
