Loeb Achieved a Perfect Score on the 2022 Corporate Equality Index
Loeb is proud that, for the fourth consecutive year, the firm earned the perfect score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2022 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s premier benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, and other (LGBTQ+) workplace equality. As a result, the firm has been recognized as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality.
The results of the 2022 CEI showcase not only how 1,271 U.S.-based companies are promoting LGBTQ+-friendly workplace policies in the U.S. but also how the 56% of CEI-rated companies with global operations are helping advance the cause of LGBTQ+ inclusion in workplaces abroad. Loeb’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria earned a 100% ranking and the designation as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality. Click here to learn more.
Loeb Received The Legal Aid Society’s 2021 Pro Bono Publico Award
Loeb was honored by The Legal Aid Society with the 2021 Pro Bono Publico award for outstanding service to the nonprofit legal aid organization and its clients. Partners Helen Gavaris, Mark Goldberg, Jerome Levine and Jamie Null; of counsel Greg Schwed; associates Caitlin Cline, Lindsay Feuer and Brandon Zamudio; Director of Litigation Support Josh Gorruso; Director of Research Services Shireen Kumar; and paralegals Shantanu Alam and Antoinette Pepper were honored for their individual contributions.
This past year, Loeb and the 12 honored Loeb lawyers and professionals collaborated with Legal Aid to secure a $400,000 settlement for pro bono client Monica Cardenas, a former employee of the Automatic Meter Reading Corporation (AMRC), in an employee sexual harassment and hostile work environment case. The legal battle against Jerome Fund, owner of AMRC, began in 2011 with the filing of a complaint with the New York City Commission on Human Rights. During a three-year period, Ms. Cardenas was repeatedly harassed by Fund after being promoted to AMRC’s office manager in 2008 and becoming Fund’s direct report. Loeb was retained to enforce the monetary judgment that Ms. Cardenas received and to provide representation of Ms. Cardenas throughout the Surrogate’s Court proceeding concerning the solvency of Mr. Fund’s estate. Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) Family Reunification Project
On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, Loeb launched a pro bono partnership with KIND and ViacomCBS to support KIND’s Family Reunification Project. The project helps parents who were separated from their children at the border during the 2017 – 2018 family separation crisis and deported without their children. The lawyers will help parents reunite with their children through the humanitarian parole process provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Family Reunification Task Force. Fifty-five Loeb and ViacomCBS volunteers will be handling 18 applications in teams to assist families in need. Thank you to litigation partner Wook Hwang for making our partnership with ViacomCBS possible. Click here to learn more about KIND.
