Defended Owners of Manhattan Apartments Against Fraudulent Conveyance Claims

Intervened in a litigation pending in the New York Supreme Court on behalf of insureds who had purchased a luxury apartment on the Upper East Side. Our clients’ property had a notice of pendency filed against it by Russian Bank VTB, who claimed our clients’ purchase was part of a fraudulent conveyance by a wealthy Russian businessman who owed the bank $70 million. We appeared in the action to protect our clients’ rights as innocent bona fide purchasers, and were able to negotiate a favorable resolution which included a cancellation of the notice of pendency and a full release of the bank’s claims against our clients’ property.
