Safia Gray Hussain is an experienced litigator representing clients in a diverse range of business, media and entertainment disputes, including intellectual property, class action, commercial, privacy, false and deceptive advertising, and other complex litigation matters.

On the media and entertainment side, she has handled claims alleging copyright and trademark infringement, breaches of various motion picture and television related agreements, right of publicity, defamation and the recovery of awards statuettes. Prior to law school, Safia worked in professional theatre and the motion picture industry in various capacities. This experience and perspective are invaluable to her practice, which she leverages in assisting clients and addressing their unique concerns and needs.

Safia also has more than a decade of experience defending class actions involving claims of consumer privacy and protection, false and deceptive advertising, unfair competition, consumer fraud, compliance with FTC and FDA regulations, compliance with various reporting regulations, and wage and hour violations. Safia’s areas of experience include successfully defending class actions, responding to threatened litigation and advising clients in the areas of telemarketing under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”) and Junk Fax Prevention Act (“JFPA”); consumer fraud and false and deceptive advertising, labelling and packaging under the Federal Trade Commission Act and California’s Unfair Competition Law (“UCL”) and Consumer Legal Remedies Act (“CLRA”); wiretapping under California’s Invasion of Privacy Act (“CIPA”); commercial emails under CAN-SPAM; protection of consumer information under California’s Song-Beverly Credit Card Act and Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (“FACTA”); and warning labels under California’s Proposition 65.  

Safia has litigated cases in both state and federal courts and represented clients in alternative dispute resolution proceedings and appellate proceedings. She is licensed in both California and New York.
