Robert Caldwell

With more than 25 years of experience, Robert Caldwell maintains a hands-on practice as a trusted advisor representing financial institutions, sponsors and investment funds in project, structured trade, and other financings and investment transactions throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Over the course of his career, Robert has practiced in London, Australia and Hong Kong. He is able to draw on his experience in Asia and developed markets and employ  a broad, multijurisdictional legal skill set to achieve results for his clients in capital markets, finance and acquisitions transactions.

Robert adopts a creative and solutions-oriented approach to matters involving the financing of energy and resources projects, renewable energy initiatives, infrastructure, structured finance, and real estate financings. He focuses on helping his clients achieve and maintain yield while reducing volatility and risk and mitigating cross-border regulatory issues for credit and collateral.

Robert is experienced in financings involving both listed and private issuers and investments of Chinese, European, and U.S. export credit and multilateral agencies as well as Mainland China financial institutions and policy banks. Robert acts regionally for investment funds, private equity, and buyout funds in offshore and onshore fund establishment and investment matters.

In addition, Robert works closely with opportunity funds and multifamily offices on regulatory matters, acquisitions and special asset investments. He has extensive experience with acquisition and financing transactions in the mining and metals sectors, and he also regularly counsels clients in the financial services industry on new technology investments.
