Employers with workers in New York City have new and sweeping pay transparency obligations as of the end of 2022. New provisions of the New York City Human Rights Law require employers and employment agencies to list “good faith” pay ranges in ads for open job, promotion and transfer opportunities that can be performed in the city—including remote positions.
While it’s not the first pay transparency law in the country, it is the most expansive. Complying seems pretty simple—just an extra line in an ad—but the new law has big implications.

Check out the next episode of our In the Know series, “Employers’ New Pay Transparency Obligations,” narrated by partner Mark Goldberg, to learn more about these new requirements and how our Employment & Labor practice can help employers comply.
